Bolt Weight Calculator

A quick weight estimate for hex bolts — by size, length, material, and quantity. Most useful for figuring freight before you place an order.

Pick a size and length, choose your material, and set how many. We’ll estimate the weight of one bolt and the whole batch. This is an estimate for standard finished hex bolts — close enough to plan freight, not a certified shipping weight.

Your quantity

An estimate for standard finished hex bolts, based on nominal dimensions and material density. Real weight varies with head style, thread length, and coating — figure roughly ±10%. For an exact shipping weight, ask either counter.

How this estimate works

The tool models a bolt as a hex head plus a round shank, using the standard finished-hex head dimensions (ANSI B18.2.1) for each size, then multiplies the total volume by the density of the material you picked. It uses the nominal diameter for the body, so it runs a touch heavy on the threaded length — which is why we call it an estimate.

It covers hex bolts and hex cap screws. Other styles — carriage, socket, structural heavy hex, all-thread — weigh somewhat differently for the same size and length. If you need those, or a guaranteed weight for a freight quote, give us the part and we’ll pull the real number.
